NYC Chocolate Chip Cookies

It’s time to get down to business. This post was strategically planned for this day and time. It’s simply one of the best chocolate chip cookie recipes out there. Yep, I said it. Not any more difficult or different than your average recipe, besides the chilling time and a couple of tweaks. Being patient pays off yet again. I am learning my lesson!

It’s the recipe that has been floating around the internets for quite some time. The one that The New York Times dubbed as the best chocolate cookie ever. I wouldn’t say it’s the best one ever, but it sure comes really close. It bakes beautifully and the instructions are spot on. You can definitely tell that it’s a recipe which has been thoroughly tested. I could never remember the original title of these cookies (which I guess is “The New York Times Chocolate Chip Cookies”). All I knew was that it had something to do with New York – the reason for my title for the beloved recipe. [Read more…]

Homemade English Toffee

Homemade English Toffee by Deliciously Yum!

Hi. Here’s another episode of candy Kathi loves. A couple months ago, I made Caramel Nougat Chocolate Bars aka Snickers. And there is no way I would let this year come to an end without making another one of my absolute faves. Heath bars or anything else containing toffee is another thing I could never get enough of. It’s the crunchy, buttery caramelized base layer topped with chocolate. The addition of pecans and almonds adds even more crunch and a nutty flavor that goes so well with toffee.

It is beautiful to look at and tastes even more amazing. Need a last minute Christmas gift? Well, you can stop searching and start making this quick and easy Homemade English Toffee. No candy thermometer required!

Seriously. Who wouldn’t want a goodie bag filled with this sweet treat? Homemade gifts are always the best, especially when they’re either useful or yummy! Yep, I wouldn’t mind sitting under our tree munching on this toffee and singing Christmas carols fa-la-la-la-la… count yourself blessed that you weren’t able to listen to that. My singing skills are definitely not meant to be shared. Ha! [Read more…]

Thursday Love List

1. Our Christmas tree. I could sit in our living room all day, sipping a cup of tea and looking at this beauty. We have twinkling lights on it this year – so pretty.

2. Speaking of tea. Have you guys tried Teavana? We just got a store at our mall and I am so smitten. I purchased their Peppermint & White Chocolate Rooibos a couple weeks ago. So well balanced and flavorful. I see lots of tea tastings in my near future.

3. Christmas baking. My oven is always running and I enjoy baking any time of year. Something about Christmas makes it a little more special and these couple of weeks have been the best blogging experience so far. I’ve enjoyed sharing and creating recipes tremendously and love seeing you comment and support Deliciously Yum! Thank you for making this Christmas season even sweeter for us :).

4. Don’t open a bag of these. So delicious and addicting.

Gingerbread Muffins

I made you muffins. Mainly because I clearly can’t stop thinking about Christmas morning and scrumpdelicious food. Combine the two and Gingerbread Muffins were the only logical outcome. You see, I was considering turning these into cupcakes but I thought that cupcakes don’t really qualify as an appropriate breakfast item. Muffins on the other hand are undoubtedly accepted by all. I am so excited about these. What can possibly be better than the ultimate gingerbread flavor combined with the perfect muffin batter? Hold on to the seat of your pants, making muffins from scratch could not be easier or tastier!

So airy and fluffy they practically melt in your mouth while giving you the much loved texture of a bakery-style muffin. All of this achieved in your own home without having to take one step into the cold winter weather. Stay in your pajamas and spoil your family on Christmas morning!

Snickerdoodles by Deliciously Yum!

Do you still have room in your cookie jar? If not, I propose you stop reading now and start eating some of your cookies to make space for these. And in case you still have room, get your sugar and flour ready. It is Snickerdoodle time. A beloved cookie by young and old alike. So easy and perfect. It’s hard to compete and compare a classic cookie to all the other ones out there. So I better stop and let you know how to make this oldie but goodie!

Classic Snickerdoodles by

There are two kinds of cookie lovers out there. First, the one who loves a chewy cookie (which is the category I fall into) and then there are those that wouldn’t dream of anything but crispy cookies. I never understood that type. Until I came to appreciate these Snickerdoodles. I wouldn’t dream of baking them a minute less because a good snickerdoodle will always mean crispy deliciousness to me from now on. Nope, I have not been converted. I am pretty sure I will remain a chewy cookie fan for life, but I am broadening my horizons. Cookie horizons – there’s so much to explore :). Don’t be dismayed if you still wish to enjoy a chewy snickerdoodle, these cookies have the potential to fulfill your dreams as well. [Read more…]
