I am so sorry for sharing these brownies with you. Only because you won’t be able to stop thinking about these. I knew I had you at brownies. Oh, and peanut butter cups. But there’s more. Too many mouthwatering ingredients to possibly fit into one name. Triple Chocolate Chunk Brownies at the bottom. Peanut butter cups and salted peanuts form layer #2. And finally, rice cereal slathered in a concoction of creamy, dreamy peanut butter and luscious milk chocolate for the third and final layer. I think I will stop now. You know this is going to be delicious!
I have been making these brownies for years. Everyone always asks for the recipe, so I naturally had to post it here as soon as I made another batch. I usually wait until an opportune time. There’s no way I would be making these just for the two of us and keep them on our kitchen counter. Way too risky! We usually sneak one or two and then happily send them off. Crispy Peanut Butter Cup Brownies are just too good to be true. You can’t take your eyes off of them, ha!
If you’re looking for a treat to share this holiday season – choose this one and sweeten this special time of the year for everyone. It will certainly create long-lasting memories. Don’t you have those moments when you eat or crave something that brings you right back to a special moment in your life? That’s exactly why family recipes and traditional foods are so dear to us. It’s all about spreading the love through your cooking and baking, which is exactly what you’ll be doing with these brownies.
It’s like having a brownie, rice krispie square, and your favorite candy bar all in one. Rich, chewy, crunchy, salty and sweet!
Love the chunks of peanuts, pb cups and rice cereal peaking through. Not to mention the wonderful layers. What a sight to behold.
With football season in full swing, these scrumptious bars are more than appropriate for game day. Either to drown your sorrows or party with your winning team!
Hope you’re week is going splendidly so far. The weekend is not far off, friends! We’ll see you Friday with a new recipe to celebrate the end of the week! In the meantime, please enjoy these brownies that are sure going to bring a smile to your face.

- 1 box brownies
- 1/2 cup salted peanuts, chopped
- 1 cup peanut butter cups, chopped
- 1 1/2 cup milk chocolate chips
- 1 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
- 1/2 tablespoon shortening or unsalted butter
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 1/2 cups Rice Krispie Cereal
- Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish and set aside.
- 1. Mix your batch of brownies according to package directions and bake for 23 minutes. Remove from the oven and top with peanut butter cups and peanuts. Return to the oven and bake for another 5 minutes.
- 2. While the brownies finish baking, combine the milk chocolate chips, peanut butter, and shortening. Melt in the microwave until creamy. Stir in the vanilla and combine. Next, add cereal and mix well.
- 3. Once the brownies are done baking, remove from the oven and pour the cereal mixture on top. Spread into an even layer and let cool. Transfer the brownies to the fridge and let set for 3 hours. Enjoy!
Wow, this recipe looks amazing! It’s perfect timing as Halloween has left me with some leftover candy (not that I mind) 🙂 peanut putter + cups + chocolate and rice krispie-yeah, this is a keeper. Thanks for sharing!
You are absolutely right, Kenton! Thank you so much for saying hi.
they look like yummy brownies!
So, so yummy. I hope you’ll give this recipe a try. It’s definitely worth it!
Seriously!?! These look really amazing! I’ll be sharing these with my facebook folks 😀
Thanks for the love, Nicole! People like you make my day :). Let me know how the brownies turn out if you decide to whip up a batch!
I have a recipe very similar, except I put a layer of marshmallow creme on top of the brownies, under the crunchy, peanutbuttery layer.
Sounds yummy, Tiffany!
I’ve made this recipe twice & both times my brownies were way underdone. Sad because they’re delicious around the edges but the rest is so underdone that they’re barely edible.
Hi Katie!
I think it might help if you bake the brownies a couple minutes longer. I would shoot for 30 minutes instead of 23 and bake them the additional 5 minutes after that as stated in the recipe. These are so delicious and I hope you can enjoy them as much as we do once they come out right!
What yummy goodness this is! Just made this tonight.
I am so glad you made these, Rhonda! They are incredible!
Thank you!, for having a friendly blog, and a kind heart. I have enjoyed my visit with you. Ilona
I’m making them for Easter since my daddy loves Choc. and peanut butter. I’ll let you kinow how they go.
hey! Thanks for the recipie…its YUMMY..!!!
Gosh these looks insane! I’m so pinning this for my next indulgent treat:)
I pinned this but can’t find the recipe….help!
Just wondered – do you use a Pyrex glass baking dish or a metal baking pan? I know the oven temperature is different depending on the kind of pan you use. Thanks! Looking forward to making these.
I used a metal pan. Happy baking!
When I made these the top separated from the cake. What did I do wrong?
What size brownie mix? There’s the size for the 8×8 pans and the size for the 9×13 pan. I used the 9×13 size and I don’t think I will have room for the topping?I wish the recipe specified.
These look yummy and I wanted to make them until I saw the ingredients list: a boxed brownie mix, bought peanut butter cups. Not my idea of homemade…………….sorry, they really look yummy!
