I took an unplanned break. And I missed blogging way too much.
As the title of this posts indicates, I thought I’d fill you in on what we’ve been up to lately before resuming my regular posting schedule (M,W,F) starting this Friday. If you don’t enjoy picture-heavy posts not involving food, stay tuned and come back soon. I have something so incredibly yummy coming up, you don’t want to miss it!
It all started here.
In the beginning of August, Adam and I went on the longest road trip either of us had ever been on. We decided to pack up our car and head all the way to Key West, FL. This was our first official vacation as a married couple after being married for well over 7 years. I know! To say that we were out-of-our-minds excited would be the understatement of the year. After spending just over 27 hours in the car, we arrived to the view you see above.
Needless to say, we proceeded to spend most of our time in Florida on the beach. I couldn’t get enough of the palm trees and the sand beneath my toes. It also happened to be the first time I’ve ever seen a palm tree in real life. And I couldn’t get over how beautiful and majestic they looked. Snapping pictures and forcing Adam to take countless selfies with me was mandatory.
Key West is hands down the most beautiful place I’ve ever laid eyes on. The beach lover inside of me was in her happy place. I know we’ll be back some day ;).
Right after we’d returned from our epic road trip, my momma and little sister came into town. And somewhere along the way we found ourselves on an airplane headed to NYC. Which is the main reason why Deliciously Yum was lacking posts last week. We we’re wandering the busy streets of the big apple and happened to have the best time.
Between navigating and looking up spots to eat, my phone battery drained incredibly fast. I didn’t get to take all the pictures I wanted to, but these are just a few of the highlights from our trip. We definitely had a blast being tourists and had no shame about it.
The first order of the first day was to get my hands on a cronut. So I got up at 6 AM and strolled to Dominique Ansel’s famous bakery.
When I finally arrived at 7:30 AM, the line was already pretty long. I waited for a little over an hour to step inside.
My baking heart nearly exploded inside of my chest. When I took the picture of all the incredible-looking desserts in the display case, I really had to exercise my self-control. I wish I could have tried each and every one of his creations. But I kept my eyes on the prize.
Peach Bourbon was the flavor of the month. Given my love for peaches, I don’t think I could have come at a better time.
And here they are. You’re only allowed to purchase two per person, unless you’d like to go back and stand in line for another two, ha. A cronut is a mash-up of a croissant and a donut – just in case you’re wondering what I’m talking about. Plus, the cronuts are filled with an awesome pastry cream and finished with the most perfect glaze. I could go on and on about them. These are the epitome of all things mash-up. Worth the wait, for sho!
My adorable sister and her four newest friends. This concludes the month of August as seen through my iPhone. Most of the fabulous food we enjoyed over the past couple of weeks didn’t make it on camera. But believe me when I tell you that I’ve been inspired, ready to get back into my kitchen and share all my newest recipes with you.
The season of comfort food, pumpkin spice, and (dare I say) outrageous Christmas treats is upon us. I hope you’re ready.
Thanks for reading along. XOXO.
