Sopapillas in bite-sized form. You won’t believe how easy and fast it is to make your own in no time!
One of the best Mexican Restaurant treats around. Hands down. I had been intrigued to try my hand at making homemade sopapillas for the longest time. Last Saturday I found myself asking what I was waiting for and decided to dive right in.
Sometimes recipes that aren’t planned and just sort of happen, turn out to be the best. Nothing compares to a pile of freshly fried and golden pieces of beautiful sopapillas, especially when they come in a miniature version, are still warm and doused in honey.
Who is with me?
Sopapilla dough is reminiscent of pizza or even bread dough – a very light and fluffy version. When I first laid eyes on sopapillas, I thought that they looked like donuts and put them into the same category. But they don’t really compare to donuts. They are not as sweet and the texture is completely different. It’s a treat that’s very distinct in taste and something you have to try to fully understand.
One bite and you will know what I’m talking about :).
I am sharing the recipe over at Nikki’s fabulous blog today. It would totally make my day if you head on over to grab the recipe.
And make sure to let me know how you like homemade sopapillas if you give them a try. I always love to hear! XOXO
