PB and Jelly Bars

Peanut Butter and Jelly aren’t just best friends when it comes to sandwiches anymore. They’re taking over the dessert world and together make for some utterly scrumptious, delicious, and fun bars.

PB and Jelly Bars

We’re bringing Peanut Butter and Jelly back. At least in the Deliciously Yum Home. I can’t remember the last time I had a pb & jelly sandwich. Probably sometime back in High School. I have no idea why, but my husband decided to break out the peanut butter and jelly jars and devour one sandwich after the other over the last week or so. And I immediately took inspiration, of course.

We’re basically looking at cookie bars. The crust and crumbly topping resemble a chewy peanut butter oatmeal cookie. With a generous layer of strawberry preserves in the middle.

Jelly Filled Donut Holes

No fail Donut Holes filled with Jelly. You won’t be able to stop munching on these!

With the end of January drawing near, I thought that I would miss my chance to indulge in some type of Jelly Donut. Last year I made you these. And I am so glad I was able to squeeze in some time to give donut holes a go and continue my January tradition of all things donuts and jelly. Alright, alright, I didn’t really have to make time. I actually happily ran into the kitchen and started to whip up the dough – nothing gets me going like the promise of fresh, still warm inside, and perfectly poppable donut holes.

Just when I thought things couldn’t get better in the donut department, these cute-as-a-button bites, proved otherwise. Of course I’d heard of donut holes before. But every time I go to get a donut at a bakery where donut holes are sold, I didn’t think twice about ordering the minis. Why bother with the small stuff when you can indulge into a big, beautiful donut instead?

But these homemade treats flipped my world upside down. Let me tell you more about these cuties and find out how many more times I will use the word donut in this post ;). Continue reading

Peanut Butter and Jelly Granola Bars by Deliciously Yum!

Hi Everyone! First of all, I have to apologize for our recent website troubles. To make the long story short, we were in the process of switching host providers, while in the middle of the transition, our old host decided not to cooperate, which caused some down time for Deliciously Yum. I am pleased to report that the switch has been completed and we should have smooth sailing from now on.

This entire process has been so frustrating, but we really think it will be worth it in the long run. So, thank you for sticking with us and practicing patience. I am ready to put this behind me and get on with telling you about today’s recipe. Let’s make things up with Peanut Butter and Jelly Granola Bars!

You guys, I never thought I could be this excited about a granola bar. I mean, granola bars are one of our go-to snacks and are always available in our house, but they aren’t super special, if you know what I mean. A couple of days ago, I decided to make my own. I knew I wanted to switch things up and create a flavor I couldn’t buy at our local grocery store. Out of nowhere, peanut butter and jelly popped into my head and I knew I had a winner. After all, I can’t think of anyone who doesn’t love peanut butter and jelly. Continue reading

Jelly Doughnuts

The beginning of a new year calls for Jelly Doughnuts. Not just any doughnut will do – they have to be filled with strawberry jelly. Why? I’m not quite sure. Ever since I was a little girl, I remember my mom serving jelly doughnuts sometime during the first couple of days of the new year. It’s one of my favorite traditions…. because, um, they’re doughnuts!!! When everyone makes resolutions of living healthier and looks forward to a fresh new start, we got a break and were allowed one of the fluffiest and most scrumptious doughnuts I’ve ever tasted. After that, we had another 365 days until jelly doughnuts would be allowed for breakfast again. Now you know why I’m so excited to share them today!

Since I have had many years of tasting the most amazing jelly doughnuts from a teeny local bakery, you can be sure that these doughnuts had to endure an extremely picky and choosy palate. I could not believe how authentic these tasted. Food that brings you back to your childhood always is the best kind. These came so close to the real thing – I am not sure I’d be able to tell the difference between the original and my homemade version. So awesome and dangerous at the same time. Hopefully I won’t have to break my mom’s rule of having these only once a year!

We always had to choose between glazed or rolled in sugar. And of course, I always tried to get away with having one of each, which basically never happened since they were counted. Smart, those parents! Continue reading
