Grilled Crostini slathered with Chocolate Hazelnut Spread and topped with summer’s finest Berries.
Today we’re mixing appetizer with dessert. Not sure why in the world it took me this long to figure out how to have dessert first and have it not be frowned upon. When you present these pretty crostini to your dinner guests, nobody will even think to question that they’re indulging in chocolate, lovely carbs and juicy fruit before the actual dinner has started. This appetizer is an excellent way to kick off any get together. The lovely presentation, with a bite that will please everyone, will set the mood for a fabulous time.
And you really can’t beat a quick and easy assembly no matter how many people you’re expecting. Whether you’re looking to feed just a few people or a good-sized crowd, these crostini are your best bet. A few ingredients and a couple of minutes of your time will result in one stunning & incredibly delicious appetizer. Continue reading →
A seriously genius way to get your cookie fix. Baked in a cast iron skillet, bursting with Nutella and cookie perfection!
Welcome back, everyone! There is no time for small talk today. We have some cookie business to discuss.
I am sure you’ve come across skillet cookies aka pizookies on the internets over the last couple of months. I’ve been seeing them everywhere and even though I’ve been the proud owner of a cast iron skillet since May of this year, I stayed away from creating any types of dessert with it because I had an inkling it’d be dangerous. But I have to admit that’s the first thing that popped into my head when I purchased mine at a flea market while we were on a family vacation.
I actually couldn’t wait to put it to use once we got back. And boy oh boy, have I been loving it. While I’ve come to use it for pretty much every meal I prepare, I finally caved and made dessert last Saturday. While I am sure there were other options, I just knew I had to go with some kind of skillet cookie.
I don’t think you need an explanation as to why. All I have to say is, go get your stretchy pants on and start making this unbelievable treat! Continue reading →
Mondays call for chocolate and what better way than in the form of truffles?! These are not your average truffles though, they’re made with Nutella!
Happy Monday morning to you! This weekend seemed to have passed in lightning speed, which I’d foreseen. Time always flies fast when you’re having fun. And the last couple of days were packed with more than enough.
I’ll have some pictures to share with you later this week, but I first need to sort through image after image of mouthwatering food. Meanwhile, why don’t we concentrate on something else that’s also more than drool-inducing: Nutella Truffles.
Since chocolate basically runs through my veins, there is no escaping Nutella. Whoever invented that luscious chocolate spread and basically made it perfectly acceptable to enjoy chocolate first thing in the morning, was a pure genius.
But it certainly doesn’t have to stop there. There are so many different ways to enjoy it throughout the day and right now, incorporating it into truffles, is my favorite by far. Continue reading →
Double Chocolate Cookies stuffed with Nutella and sprinkled with Sea Salt. You have got to experience this one-of-a-kind cookie!
Let’s tackle another Monday, shall we? But before we do, can we dwell on the weekend a little while longer and pretend it’s not yet time to get back to reality? Good.
As usual, the weekend went by way to fast. Not only was mine packed with a fun freelance project I’ll tell you about later, but getting to hang out with some of our fabulous friends, chatting it up and playing board games, was another highlight. Nothing says Midwest like a good old game night and a delicious hot dish (also known as casserole, ha).
Or is that a national thing? Either way, I am fairly certain that I know one thing that unites us all. Cookies are understood and loved nationwide, if not worldwide.
They’re also my way of extending the weekend and dwelling on the fun memories one scrumptious bite at a time. Let’s forget about Mondays together. Continue reading →
Six ingredients are all you need to create these scrumptious no-bake cookies. Crunchy, creamy, sweet. What’s not to love?
It’s hot, hot, hot out there. For MN standards at least. The past week has been filled with the most amazing weather anyone could ask for. Blue skies, incredible sunshine and temperatures in the lower 80’s. I feel so spoiled. And you bet I’ve been soaking up as many rays as time allows.
My goal is the same every summer. Try to get a tan on. Year after year, I am denying the fact that it’s basically impossible for me to get that beautiful sun-kissed color on my skin. I tend to burn rather quickly and usually return to my normal skin tone shortly after. By the end of summer, it’s basically impossible for anyone’s eyes but mine to detect an actual change in my skin color. Ivory for life, yo.
What’s a girl to do but drown her tanning sorrows in a jar of Nutella? I have adored that silky chocolate spread the very first moment I tasted it. I am pretty sure sparks flew. And since it’s not always appropriate to eat that stuff straight of the jar by the spoonfuls (i.e. when there are other people in my house besides myself), I am forced to find new ways to still get my Nutella fix.
