The Easiest French Silk Pie of Life (Dairy-Free)

French Silk Pie EVERYONE will be able to pull off. It doesn’t get easier than this.

Today is the day, you guys. Not only are my hubby and I the same age once again, but it’s also the day on which his French Silk Pie dreams are coming true. It also happens to be my first actual pie post here on the blog. And for good reason. Pie-baking only happens once a year in our kitchen and that is the day on which my hubby turns a year older.

It’s my least favorite thing to bake, but I gladly make an exception for my pie-loving man. So when I say this is the easiest pie of life, you better believe that I am not kidding around.

Especially if you’ve never made a pie before; I can’t think of a pie that’s simpler and more suitable for a beginner than this one. There’s no baking involved here and you only need a couple of minutes to throw this together. This might be the easiest and tastiest recipe I’ve ever created.

Here’s how you can get your pie fix on.

The Easiest French Silk Pie of Life

This time around I didn’t even have to ask Adam what he wanted for his birthday. He almost always chooses a pie and I am beyond curious to see which one he goes for every year. I never know what I’ll be making next, but this year I had a feeling. I can’t even tell you how many times he told me that he wishes he could devour a slice of French silk pie in the last couple of months. The surprise on my face when he said that is hard to put into words. The non-chocoholic wanted the richest and silkiest pie I can think of. He never seizes to surprise me.

And of course it’s the one thing he couldn’t have because as some of you might remember, he has a dairy sensitivity. Hence the idea of a dairy-free French Silk Pie was born. And I just knew I had to make it a reality. After tons of brainstorming and some experimenting, I can confidently say that I have found the ONE. This recipe is every bit as indulgent as your standard pie and I would even go as far as saying that you would never guess it contains no dairy.

I will report back how it goes down with my man later tonight. Since I had to do some quality control earlier, I am feeling quite good about this one. Even me (the non-pie fan) has a hard time staying away ;).

Hope you enjoy!

Write a review
  1. 10 double-stuffed Oreos
  2. 1 (7 oz) jar marshmallow crème
  3. 6 ounces semisweet or dark chocolate chips (dairy-free)
  4. 1/4 cup vegan buttery spread (I used earth balance)
  5. 4 ounces unsweetened chocolate
  6. 16 ounces (2 containers) Cool Whip
  7. chocolate shavings, optional
  1. 1. Using your food processor, crush Oreos until you have fine crumbs. Pour into a 9-inch pie pan and distribute evenly. Set aside.
  2. 2. Combine marshmallow crème, chocolate chips, butter and unsweetened chocolate in a medium saucepan. Heat over medium high heat until fully melted and thoroughly combined, while stirring frequently with a rubber spatula. Remove from the heat and stir in 1 container of Cool Whip. Pour mixture on top of the crushed Oreo crust. Refrigerate for 1 hour.
  3. 3. Spread remaining container of Cool Whip over the top of the pie and sprinkle with chocolate shavings*, if desired. Refrigerate for another 2 hours or until ready to serve. Enjoy!
  1. Pie will keep up to 5 days stored in the fridge.
  2. *I made my chocolate shavings by using a vegetable peeler and shaving as much chocolate off of a dark chocolate bar as I desired.
Deliciously Yum!

  6. Happy {belated} birthday to Adam! I hope he loved this pie! It’s looks fantastic, and I’d never guess, just by looking at the photos, that it’s dairy free! Holy chocolate and holy yum!

  7. On our own dairy free journey at my house. Just an FYI: Cool Whip is NOT dairy free -unless they changed the ingredients. Label reading is a pain in the you-know-what, but it’s saved my kids’ lives a couple times. Pies like this one are hard to recreate without dairy. I’m hoping to find a recipe using full fat whipped coconut cream. Have you played around with that ingredient?
    Blessings on your allergy journey!

  8. mom murphy says:

Cool whip is NOT Dairy free…it is made from milk!!!

  9. Sara Faulkner says:

Marshmallow creme is NOT vegan. Unless you were using one that excludes the gelatin.
and Cool whip is NOT vegan.

  10. Cool Whip is not Dairy Free. Check the ingredients. There are 3 milk-based ingredients in it (“skimmed milk, light cream, and less than 2% sodium caseinate (a milk derivative)”). My wife has an anaphylactic milk allergy. Your dairy-free recipe would kill her.

  11. *CEASES to amaze me.

  12. Hi,
Last I checked coolwhip is NOT dairy free. It may say it is on the front but when you read the ingredients it has derivatives of milk…am I missing something? I would love to find truly dairy free cool whip as well as make this pie!
