Watermelon Lime Slushie

One of the easiest and most refreshing slushies you can make at home. This is a summer must!

Hello again! Can I just take a second to tell you how much I’m loving summer so far?! Few things are better than reading a good book outside, taking nightly walks with my hubby and enjoying some amazingly flavorful food. I just love going to the grocery store or farmer’s market and seeing all of the seasonal produce in full abundance. I can’t get enough.

I bought our first watermelon a few weeks back and happen to have picked the perfect one. Completely sweet and perfectly juicy. We couldn’t stop eating it.

With only a quarter of said watermelon left, I needed to try my hand at a homemade watermelon slushie. I’ve seen them all over the internets lately and knew immediately that I had to whip up my own version as soon as I came across the perfect watermelon.

I wanted ultimate sweetness without any added sugar and just had to add a couple of limes… subtle tartness with the sweet taste of watermelon and crushed ice make for one delectable slushie!

That’s right – 3 simple ingredients are all you need to create this concoction. Fun in a glass for adults and kids alike.

I already know that this will be a summer staple for us from now on. It’s an addiction that I’m looking to nurture all summer long. Nothing beats a fresh and healthy drink that satisfies a serious sweet tooth!

Did I mention how much I love summer? Besides watermelon, I can’t help but notice that homemade popsicles are all the rage right now. I came this close to buying my own popsicle mold the other day and get in on the craze. I am pretty sure I would go overboard creating all kinds of (hopefully) yummy flavors. What do you think? Yay or nay when it comes to homemade popsicles?

Alright, here’s to a fabulous start to yet another week.

  1. I can’t wait to try this! We have a friend that just adopted a little girl from China and all she wants is watermelon! Apparently watermelon juice is the beverage of choice in China! 🙂 I am going to pass this along, I think she will love this!

  2. This looks so refreshing! I have had the WORST luck choosing watermelons this year, it’s made me gun-shy about buying another one! Maybe if I knew I had a slushie in my future it would motivate me to try buying one again. 🙂

And YES to the popsicles! Buy yourself a mold so I can start drooling over your homemade popsicle recipes already!

  3. This seems SO easy to make Kathi!! I have a slight confession…love watermelon, but never seem to buy it. Why?? Because I hate cutting it up haha! Ok, I really need to stop being lazy and buy watermelon, cause it’s just so SO yummy and the perfect thing for summer. All over this drink! Pinned for later, thanks lovely!

  4. Watermelon totally screams summer to me and so does this slushi! It looks so sweet and refreshing! Isn’t it awesome when you pick a good watermelon? I can never tell if I’m picking a sweet one so it’s always a game of luck for me lol

  5. Love watermelon, love lime anything-perfect marriage of two of my loves. FYI–I had an older Gentleman farmer tell me the best way to determine if a watermelon was ripe, was to pick one that was darkest green, and had the most consistent color–no big light spots. It’s worked well for me so far . . .

  6. My Deliciously Yum! binge-reading starts now! 🙂 Sorry to miss you the past several weeks, Kathi. I saved your posts, so now I can see what you’ve been up to.

Love this slushie! Watermelon is a favorite of mine, especially this time of year. The pink and lime colors are so pretty. I wish I had one now. Yum!
